Government Relations

The Nova Scotia Co-operative Council advocates for co-operatives and credit unions to all levels ofgovernment and industry. We are the voice of the movement, inspiring change for the betterment of our sector.

We work closely with many departments and agencies, including those responsible for legislation.

Co-operatives Branch

The Co-operatives Branch manages the Co-operative Associations Act, providing incorporation,registration, inspection and wind-up services to the province’s co-operatives.
The office of the Inspector of Co-operatives provides and approves all necessary forms forregistrations, special resolutions and annual filing requirements.

Department of Finance

All credit unions incorporated in the province are regulated by the office of the Superintendentof Credit Unions. The office is responsible for approving incorporations, by-laws and for generaladministration of the Credit Union Act.
